General Information
The Ferry
Early ferry & accommodation bookings are essential as this is the school holidays. For current schedule and fares for car and passengers please refer to www.sealink.com.au
You must be there 30 mins before sailing time and obtain boarding passes from the booking office. All passengers must walk on to the ferry only the driver goes on with the car.
The crossing takes about 45 minutes.

Mobile Phones
Telsta and Optus are currently the only services available on the Island, with the NextG type of phone having the best coverage, standard mobiles only limited coverage.
Remember it's a BIG Island 150kms x 60kms about the size of Yorke Peninsula !!!! Some visitors have thought that they could see the Island in 1 day - they got a surprise didn't they !!!!

Petrol
Petrol on the Island is usually 6 to 8 cents dearer than mainland prices.
American River - General Store - 7.30 am to 7.30 pm
Kingscote - Four fuel outlets - 7 am to 8 pm
Parndana - Two service stations - 8 am to 5.30 pm
Penneshaw - One service station - 7.30 am to 7.30 pm
Vivonne Bay - General Store - 7.30 am to 7.30 pm

Most major tourist attractions are available by sealed roads. A South Coast Ticket may be obtained from the National Parks Kingscote or at Seal Bay - this gives access to Seal Bay, Kelly Caves & Flinders Chase Parks.
Some beaches such as Pennington Bay and Vivonne Bay are approx. 2kms of gravel road.
The Hope Cottage Museum in Kingscote has an extensive range of tractors and stationary engines and also plenty of interesting displays for the ladies.
